Spring Speaker Series Kicks Off with Paula Polk Lillard and Lynn Lillard Jessen

Filed under: General and Misc — jennifer james at 3:50 pm on Friday, March 23, 2012

Drummond Montessori Parents:

Please attend our next parent ed event: “Montessori and the Human Spirit: From Birth to Young Adulthood”, by Paula Polk Lillard and Lynn Lillard Jessen.

This beautiful lecture and slide show presentation will follow the child’s spiritual (not religious) development and how virtues such as compassion, peace, an affinity for the natural world …etc develop from birth to young adulthood and what it means for humanity to flourish all over the globe.

This talk will premier in the U.S. only at Drummond Montessori Magnet School before being presented in Germany and Sweden.

Please RSVP soon as limited tickets are available and we are opening up the event to other Montessori schools. Free limited childcare is available through YMCA. Light refreshments are sponsored by PTO. We will close registration when we reach our desired capacity.

Here is the link to register:

Please also order books. The lecture will be followed by a book signing of any of the 4 Lillard books. Please plan on prepurchasing to avoid waiting in lines to purchase books at the event. Drummond profits from books sold before and during the event. You may pre-purchase or reserve a book when you register for our event. Books purchased through Drummond Montessori will have priority for book signing.

More info on a book club lead by our very own, Mrs. Mary Wheatley will follow soon.

Pink Tower Event silent auction donation drop-off Monday am

Filed under: General and Misc — emilygreenfield at 6:31 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012

We are only 2 months away from the Pink Tower Event!!! May 17th We already have some great silent auction items; fine dining, golf, vacation homes, sporting events to name a few. We wanted to make it easier to hand in SA donations this year, so every Monday before school and Friday after school there will be a table where you can drop off items. Jane Nicholson will be at the table this Monday morning 3/19 before school.

We want to get everything in before spring break, which is just two weeks away! This gives us time to make sure everything is in the program book and to collect any last minute items!

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Jane () or me ()

New this year: you can enter your item online before you drop it off-

SPRING BREAK MATCH!!!!

Filed under: General and Misc — emilygreenfield at 6:53 am on Thursday, March 15, 2012

We’ve raised over $10,000 in the family pledge drive to date. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far. A Special thank you to the The Fisher/Rosenthal and Petersen/Stein families who have come together to offer a $5,000 family challenge for the last before Spring Break. Let’s build another block before Spring Break!!

Let’s do our part to make sure we get that full match by Spring Break! We can start by getting creative. Here are some options:

1) Birthdays coming up? Have friends and loved ones donate to the school in honor of your child’s birthday. Make a webpage to manage it here
2) Ask your employer if they match your charitable donations & make your donation go even further. Email for more information

Don’t Forget:

• Your donation is tax deductible. Everyone donating will receive a thank you letter for tax purposes.
• 100% Participation is our main goal. Therefore, $25 makes a difference, $50 makes a difference, any amount you can manage makes a world of a difference. Please donate as soon as possible to take advantage of this matching opportunity.

How To Donate?

• Donate Online :CLICK HERE

• Check, Money Order or Cash Donation may be dropped off in the main office to the attention of Megan Hinchsliff/DMM accounting chair

EC PLAYDATE on Monday 2/20 – siblings welcome

Filed under: General and Misc — Neha Gandhi at 4:10 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2012
Hi Everyone
I wanted to invite you and to Hamlin Park (3035 North Hoyne Avenue) on Monday for an EC playdate. The park supervisor gave us the small gym from 11 til 2pm. She asked that we bring our own sporting equipment. I think the kids would love a game of steal the bacon which doesn’t require much equipment! Anything goes we could do a lot with the space so if you have any ideas bring them Monday!! They do not allow food in the gym but feel free to pack a lunch I am sure you can find a place to eat! Siblings welcome. Please RSVP to the post on FB, if you can.
Spread the word!
