Journey World… Offers Evening Childcare!

Come to Journey World in your comfy clothes and relax with a movie or find some cool science and art activities to do before bedtime! Girls and boys in kindergarten thru 6th Grade are welcome!

WHEN: Thursday, March 17 from 6:00-10:30 p.m.

WHERE: Journey World, Suite 500

WHAT TO BRING: Pack your own dinner and a mat or sleeping bag to rest on.

NOTES FOR PARENTS:

• Cost/child is $40
• Snacks, movies and activities included!
• To register, complete the attached registration form and send in via email to or fax to the attention of Lisa Garrucho at 312/733-4854.
• Registration closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 or as soon as we reach our capacity of 40 children.
• This is not an overnight! Pick-up time is between 10:00-10:30 p.m.

The Time Has Come!!!

We are one week away from our Pink Tower Event, which you have all so graciously helped to put together.

We will be selling tickets Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, this week after school. Uncle Fatty’s and Café Laguardia have kindly agreed to sponsor our event again this year, so please help us plan accordingly by purchasing your tickets this week.

Help make the event a success by inviting 1 friend. If parents can sell just one ticket to a family member or a friend, it would make a huge difference to our goal. What better way to show our Teachers that we appreciate them, then by helping them in this uncertain time. The more we raise in this event, the better our teachers, our staff, and ultimately, our children will be next year.

- PTO provided lunch for the entire school staff from Etno http://etnogrill.com/
as well as chair massages, dessert and coffee were also provided
-Many room parents headed up special projects or gifts for their classroom teacher
-A “Book of Gratitude” was created and filled with letters from parents and students to their teachers and school. It is currently residing in the office so check out some of the heartfelt letters. This is ongoing so if you did not contribute…please do so!
-A beautiful and professional floor plan was created to revamp the teacher’s lounge. Now all we need is to find some money and prepare some volunteer labor!
-The Special Ed team was treated to a small gift and a big thank you from the DELT team and all the children that they teach.

SOCCER Clinic at Drummond
Clinic Begins April 24th – June 5th 2012 (7 weeks)
Boys and girls can learn basic soccer skills like passing, dribbling, shooting and teamwork.

If your child is looking for a fun and positive experience, they will truly enjoy our Soccer Clinic! Core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring are instilled in each player.

If you’ve spent some time on the East playground recently, you’ve seen that E1 kids have been busy painting the playground with the first Montessori map of the continents!  This is the E1 Earth Day project- thanks to the teachers and kids in E1 for inspiring all of us. (A special shout out to our wonderful art teacher for her help!!)

Not to be outdone, the E2 students set out to educate the entire parent community about the virtues of greening your hone.  E2 students researched and collected green “tips” to show the Drummond community how to live in a sustainable world.  The Green Tips Guide will be coming out shortly. Please look out for it- it’s awesome!

We’d also like to recognize our 7th and 8th graders who celebrate Earth Day each day of the school year by running Drummond’s great recycing program. 

Finally, we are very proud of students who submitted the the awesome Trash-to Art contest entries!  All entries received awards.  The “People’s Choice Award” went to Meyer Rosenthal, in Room 101, EC.  Congratulations to all of the winners who created such beautiful art out of trash.

If you’d like to keep the green spirit alive at Drummond, please consider donating a Home Depot gift card, of any amount, to help grow Drummond’s classroom gardens.
