Get Involved & Help your Child Succeed!
When parents get involved in their children’s education, it pays off.  Research shows that children whose parents are actively involved are more likely to:
·         Earn higher grades & test scores
·         Adapt well to school
·         Attend school regularly
·         Have better social skills
·         Show improved behavior
Parent involvement is great for children, great for teacher, and great for the school.

Kiss ‘N Go Update

Filed under: General and Misc — cindy_nicita at 11:29 am on Thursday, August 13, 2009

Kiss ‘N Go is up and running thanks to our wonderful volunteers. We continue to work on how to best ensure a smooth transition from car to classroom for our Drummond students.

First, some reminders. Please do not park on the school side of Cortland or Honore after 8:30am as this is where cars line up to drop their children off for Kiss ‘N Go. Volunteers will begin accepting students at 8:45am. Please do not get out of your car when using Kiss ‘N Go. Volunteers will open your car door and assist your child out of the car.

For safety reasons, please do not drop off a child who is in distress and does not want to go with one of our volunteers. Please find a parking place and walk your child to his or her teacher.

Lastly, we are in GREAT need of volunteers. Even if you do not use Kiss ‘N Go, it is a fun and helpful way to contribute to our school community.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please contact Cindy Nicita at (773)860-7228 or .

Drummond Database- Sign up by August 20th!

Filed under: General and Misc — grace at 9:27 pm on Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Greetings Drummond Families, Teachers and Administrators

Happy New School Year to Everyone!  As everyone can agree, last year was a great year for Drummond PTO/FOD especially with the success of Luau 2009.  This year, PTO wants to introduce to you, a new tool for the Drummond School, PTO Manager. This is an exciting web-based database that will help us increase overall organization and efficiency in many communicative areas of our school.
How will this benefit Drummond?

  • “Go Green” with a real time, online school directory- printed directory will also be available to those who request it
  • Easy access to the Drummond organizations, volunteers and volunteer opportunities.
  • One central database for teachers, administration and PTO.

What about privacy?

  • Only the directory info will be available to the school body.
  • The volunteer info you enter will not be public knowledge. It will only be accessible by the Principal, PTO President/VP and Committee Chairperson.

Easy to use

  1. Go to http://drummond.ptomanager.com/index.html , click on register.
  2. Enter your email address and create a password to sign onto the database
  3. Click on volunteer tab
  4. Go to add volunteer
  5. There are 3 components to be completed; your information, volunteer interest(s) and your child’s information

I’ve signed in. Now what?

  • A real-time, online school directory is available to you.
  • You can read about all of the different Drummond organizations, see where they need volunteers and offer your help.

Our goal, simply stated, is creating a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers, administrators, and support staff can do their best work – and so can our children. There’s so much more that can be done and we need your help!
The Montessori Method is: learning by doing.  We, as parents can set a good example for our children by doing.  Get involved, get committed, get educated with both our children and Drummond.  We ask every parent to donate 5 hours of your time to Drummond this coming year.  We look forward to seeing all that can and will be accomplished this school year when we come together, as a group and as a community, to enhance and maximize the education of every child.
Please sign up by August 20th to get important information from Drummond.  Have a wonderful new school year.
Sincerely yours,
Grace Kwon and Pam Anderson
Drummond PTO
