Help welcome new families: Be a “Buddy” Family

Filed under: General and Misc — Monica at 11:22 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2009
Early Childhood parent Grace Kwon has asked me to forward her announcement below regarding a great new program she is developing to help incoming new Drummond families.  I’m really looking forward to participating and hope you will too!
Thanks, Monica Lasky (mom of Cassidy & Chelsea Goldman)

Hi everyone:
On April 23rd, there was a new families orientation to welcome them into the Drummond Family.  As most of you remember, this was an exciting yet overwhelming prospect.  It was exciting to be selected yet overwhelming because you had so many questions (uniforms? lunches? naps? teachers?).
To help alleviate their concerns and to provide direct communications, we are developing Drummond “Buddy” families.  We would like their first experiences with Drummond to be friendly and personal.
As a “Buddy” family we ask that you commit to 2 requests:
1, Contact your new family within a week of receiving their their contact info.- introduce yourself, answer questions and provide your contact info.
2, Schedule at least one play date over the summer.
If you are interested, please send me your contact info, email address, your child’s room number, age and sex.  Please email it to me by May 1, 2009.  Once I get the new family list with room numbers, I will email to you (hopefully by the end of May). We expect this to be not too time consuming and hopefully rewarding to both families involved.
As a “Buddy” family, you will become an invaluable resource to these new families. We will also be inviting the new families to the Big Event.  So if you see anyone with a “star” on their name tag at the Luau, please go out of your way to welcome them and to introduce yourselves.
Sincerely,
Grace Kwon

Luau Family Sponsorship: Tickets, Payment, etc.

Filed under: General and Misc — Monica at 8:52 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Thanks again to all of the many families who have signed on as Luau Family Sponsors (over 45 families and counting!).  I am honored to be part of such a generous community.

If you have not yet made your payment, you now may do so on-line by clicking on “donate” at www.drummondbigevent.org.

Also, please let me know whether you will be using your complimentary tickets ($2,000 = 6 tickets, $1,000 = 4 tickets, $500 = 3 tickets, $250 = 2 tickets).  Of course, we would love to have you use all of them.  However, if you are not able to do so, please know that most of our unused tickets will be donated back to the school for allocation at the School’s discretion.  Also, if you don’t use your tickets, your tax deduction should increase (consult your tax advisor).

Lastly, it’s not too late to join our sponsorship effort — drop me a note if you’re interested.

Monica Lasky, , Co-Chair Sponsorship Committee

Luau~2009 for Drummond Is Here! May 1 Deadline for Advance Ticket Pricing

Filed under: General and Misc — Angelo at 1:43 pm on Monday, April 27, 2009

No doubt you have heard about our upcoming fundraiser, Drummond Big Event — Luau~2009 (www.drummondbigevent.org). For nine months, Drummond parents, teachers, students, and other community volunteers have worked with Drummond PTO and Friends of Drummond to put in many hundreds of hours working to make this event a success.

The great news is that the event has shaped up to be a wonderfully fun and extremely profitable event for our school. With Cuban food from Cafe Laguardia, inclusive drinks (beer, wine and tropical drinks), live music from Caribica, more than a 130 silent auction items to check out, and a chance to mingle with and celebrate our Drummond community, this is an event we hope you won’t miss. Your $50 ticket gets you a lot! Moreover, your ticket gives back a lot to the school. Thanks to the in-kind support of businesses like Cafe Laguardia, Uncle Fatty’s, and Pinnacle Performance, most of the your $50 ticket purchase will go directly back to Drummond to fund school needs.

We also want to extend a big thanks to the 45 individuals/families and more than 25 businesses who have become sponsors of the event or purchased ads in the program book with the funds to benefit Drummond directly.

How can you help? There are still volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available — but most importantly, we want you to come join the fun! Visit www.drummondbigevent.org for more information and to purchase tickets (tickets will also be sold at school pickup on Tues 4/28 and Wed 4/29). Tickets are $50 before May 1 and $75 after, so get ‘em now. See you on the beaches of Uncle Fatty’s on May 7.

Yours truly,

Mark Neidlinger

Luau Volunteers Needed

Filed under: General and Misc — kpetersen at 9:07 am on Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Aloha Drummond Families and Friends,

All of the pieces are coming together and the Big Event will be here before we know it.  But, we need your help to make it happen and to make it a successful event for the Drummond community. Thank you to those of you who have already committed to helping out the day of the Luau. There are still opportunities to help out in a big way for those of you who are still looking to make a contribution.

First, we are still in need of volunteers to help with check in so that we can get everyone in the door quickly to start having fun and bidding! Please let me know if you are willing to give an hour or two to work at the check in desk ( or 312.307.6512).

Additionally, we need all of you night owls to help us at the end of the night. It promises to be a fun time and the more folks we have, the quicker it will go. So, please let me know if we can count you in as part of the Big Event Team.

Finally, please ask your Drummond friends to lend a hand and sign up to give a little time to making the Big Event happen.

Thank you,

Kyle Petersen (mom to Sophie Stein, room 101)
