Garden dedication and Pasta Palooza II

Filed under: General and Misc — Mr. Neidlinger at 5:19 pm on Monday, October 13, 2008

Hello Drummond Families, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s return tomorrow morning. I sincerely hope that each of you were able to step back and enjoy a little family time together, especially given this great weather we’ve been having. We have a big week ahead of us and I just wanted to post a few reminders:

GARDEN DEDICATION – This will be happening at 10am tomorrow morning. We have a rather simple ceremony prepared that will culminate with each of our students planting a native species under our brand new line of trees on the east side of the building. We have a number of business and individuals to thank for our wonderful transformation including Karen Ami (Drummond parent) and her colleagues at The Chicago Mosaic School who are right now installing one of our beautiful mosaics so that we can have it ready for tomorrow morning. Please come, we would love to have you join in our celebration.

PASTA PALOOZA – Is all set for Friday evening. Please plan to participate. One of the reasons this was such fun last year is because so many of our families were in attendance. We will send home more information by Wednesday of this week, but please plan to make it. We could still use a few volunteers as well – let me know if you are interested.

MONTESSORI PARENT CLASS WILL BE POSTPONED – NCLB parents will be rescheduling this important class (Montessori home environment) and we will get the information out to you in a matter of weeks.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

Sincerely,

Mr. Neidlinger

Safety Alert

Filed under: General and Misc — Jonathan Goldman at 7:24 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Even though school doesn’t start again until next week, I’d like to share with everyone an alert that is being circulated in the Bucktown community:

A man is wanted by police in their investigation of attempted child abductions in the 11th, 13th and 14th police districts.

The offender is described as male and has been seen wearing blue or multi-colored overalls. The offender has worn a clown mask or white face paint with tear drops on the cheek. Witnesses stated that the offender drives a white or brown van with the windows broken out.

The man was spotted near Garfield Park, Beidler School, Pritzker School, Polaris School and the area of N. St. Louis Ave. and W. Walton St. The offender has reportedly approached children walking to and from school.

Any information regarding the identity of the offender or the vehicle used, please contact:
Area 4 Special Victims Unit (312) 746-9259

Garden help needed

Filed under: General and Misc — Mr. Neidlinger at 1:35 pm on Monday, October 6, 2008

Dear Drummond Gardeners: WE NEED YOUR HELP!

I just met with Julia from CNT who has ordered the dirt, the gravel, the new trees and the permiable pavers to go along our sidewalk to the East, the only thing missing is you.

If you are available tomorrow (Tuesday morning) or Wednesday afternoon we sure could use your help. Tomorrow we will be moving dirt and planting trees while Wednesday’s task will involve laying pavers. If you have a shovel feel free to bring it along.

Ideally we will have 10-12 volunteers who are eager to participate. Please let me know if you think you can make it.

Good fun ahead!

Mr. Neidlinger
