Several Drummond moms will once again be hosting a Brownie Baking to bake treats for all to share at Pasta Palooza. The Brownie Baking will take place on Sunday, October 12, from 2 to 5pm at 1836 N. Honore (just across the alley from the School – plentiful parking right in the new school lot!). Children are welcome to join in the measuring and mixing fun! If you can’t make a 3pm weekday prep event or want a kid-friendly way to be involved in preparing for Pasta Palooza, this event is for you! A great chance to hang out with other parents over a glass of wine or cup of coffee while the goods are in the oven.
RSVP by Sunday, October 5 via email to or by calling 773-252-6290.
Special thanks to those of you who noticed Brownie Baking missing from yesterday’s Pasta Palooza flier: hard copy information will follow in the backpacks later this week.

On November 10, 2008, federal Judge Kocoras will consider releasing the Chicago Public School (CPS) system from its consent decree to desegregate. Join us to learn the history of desegregation in the CPS system and how racial diversity in magnet schools may be preserved.

The morning class offering is actually from 9.30-11.30 (2 hours, not one hour as I mistakenly indicated). Corrected original post follows w/my apologies for the inconvenience.
Ukranian Village Childrens Center (918 N. Damen) is once again hosting some art classes over fall break for Drummond students and others. Classes will be Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30 to 11.30, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12.30 to 2:30. Classes are reasonably priced at $15, with discounts available for taking multiple classes and for siblings ($13). Please email or call 773-342-7415 in advance if you are interested as classes will only run if there is enough interest. While not a Montessori school, UVCC has a feel and approach that is very Montessori compatible, and some of our Drummond students have really enjoyed these classes in the past.
