Last public posting regarding room reps

Filed under: General and Misc — zbluesun at 8:13 pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2008

We now have a complete listing and all rooms are represented except 8th grade.   Reps, please contact your teachers, introduce yourselves if they don’t yet know you, and give your e-mail and contact information to them.   Please be available to your parents and teachers during the upcoming orientation nights.

As soon as I have all the rep’s e-mails organized, I will privately send you room rep responsibility documents.   Feel free to contact me with any questions or issues.
Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming response.   Thanks in advance to the reps and volunteers for your time this year.   Together we can achieve great things.

Join us for an Open House/Orientation

Filed under: General and Misc — laura at 2:45 pm on Monday, August 18, 2008

Dear Drummond Parents,

The next two weeks are chock full of Open Houses/Orientations for each cycle at Drummond.  Please plan to attend the Open House for your child’s cycle.  These Open Houses are a great way to meet other parents from your child’s classroom, learn ways to help your teacher, and become familiar with the work your child is doing at school.  Attendance by parents at their cycle’s events is strongly recommended.

Middle School Open House- Tuesday, August 19  6:00-7:30pm

Early Childhood Orientation- Wednesday, August 20  5:30-6:15pm for 3, 4 & 5 year olds; Kindergarten parents will stay from 6:30-7:00.  Early Childhood parents are strongly recommended to attend.

Elementary 1 Open House- Wednesday, August 27  6:00-7:15pm

Elementary 2 Open House-  Thursday, August 28  5:00-5:45pm

We look forward to seeing you at an Open House./Orientation

Sincerely,

Laura Kuzniar

Shout out for Homeroom Reps

Filed under: General and Misc — zbluesun at 11:59 am on Thursday, August 14, 2008

Since Alexandra moved away, I have inherited the post of Homeroom Rep Organizer.   If you are presently a rep and want to stay on, or want to become a new rep this year, please e-mail me at .
In brief:   The reps do not do hands on work in the actual classrooms, but do lots of volunteer organizing, plan teacher birthday/appreciation gifts, plan class special events and do behind the scenes work for the teachers.

We keep the number of reps to 2 per class and ideally hope to have each parent only taking on one room rep position per year.

If you are interested, I need to know your name, phone, e-mail, child’s name, room you want to rep for (1st & 2nd choice if you have multiple children.)   And whether you would be willing to rep for an older grade instead.   We often have an overabundance of parents in early childhood while upper grade rooms go unfilled.

We will also keep a short list of parents who want to be more involved.    E-mail me if you want to be on the volunteer list.   All extra parents interested in rep positions above and beyond what we need will be added to this list automatically.
Thanks,

Bonnie Kenaz-Mara

The first PTO Kickoff Meeting is going to be next Tuesday morning (Aug. 12) in room 007. Maria Holstead and Sarah Landicho are putting together the

If you are an officer or Committee chairperson and can’t be there, please email your report to  no later than end of day Friday — or let Maria or Sarah know if you see them.

Thanks, and welcome back!
