DrumBeat: Drummond LSC and PTO News & Views

With any luck, Drummond School will start growing a new garden of vegetables and native plants this summer. Each classroom will have a plot and raised beds, to grow something spectacular.  We will also need a committed group of parents and community members to help out with the garden planning and upkeep. If you are interested in helping get our garden off the ground, please come to an organizational meeting this Wednesday at 2:45pm in Room 001.  In the meantime, check out the greenspace plan at http://drummondschool.org/06.2_grdnplan.html.  The individual classroom gardens are the small green squares on the east and west side of the school building.  Hope to see you there!

Last year Friends of Drummond partnered with Wells Fargo to establish the Isabel Mesa Collins Matching Grant Program.  Under this program, contributions of up to $50 made last fall to the Isabel Mesa Collins Scholarship Fund would be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $500.

Thanks to the generosity of many of you, we are close to reaching this goal, but are not quite there yet.  Accordingly, FOD has extended the deadline for making contributions to March 14, 2008 (the last day before spring break).  Contributions of up to $50 made on or before March 14 will be eligible for a match.

Please consider giving to this worthwhile cause in honor of former Drummond Pinciapl Isabel Collins.  Funds will be used to assist needy Drummond families with the purchase of school clothes, field trip fees, school supplies, etc.  Even $10 can make a difference.

Contributions may be dropped off in the School office or sent via your child’s backpack, marked to the attention of the Isabel Mesa Collins Scholarship Fund.

The Budget Committee of the LSC will be meeting Tuesday morning at 8am in Room 001 to begin discussion of next year’s budget. Meeting is open to the public.

Ms. Kerber informs me that she is still in need of the following items for the Jump Jiggle and Jive for Jasper fundraiser coming up on February 23:

* individual bags of chips
* pop (coke, diet, sprite)
* juice boxes
* water
* paper plates
* napkins
* disposable utensils
* more raffle prizes
