DrumBeat: Drummond LSC and PTO News & Views

The deadline for any Drummond Eagle Newsletter announcements, photos, comments, ads, etc., is this Friday, Nov. 30. It looks like it’s going to be a big issue. We plan on it coming out the last week before break. The deadline is early to get it all put together early.
Please feel free to send in a note about what’s going on in the classroom, send wishes to your students (or teachers) over the holidays, get Drummond jazzed up for 2008! … it doesn’t have to be long, but it’s a great way to reach out to the Drummond Community! If you’d like to get something in, but need until Monday, Please Let Me Know … Monday is the absolute latest — or I won’t be able to reserve space for you.
As always, small personal ads are available for $2 for students and $5 for parents and teachers.  Please get your submissions to Sarah Landicho’s mailbox in the Main Office by Friday, Nov 30th.
 

The November toddler story time (11/29) has been canceled. Please pass the word along!

December toddler story time will be Thursday, December 13^th at 9:00 a.m. in the library.

Planning to give Gift Cards for the holidays this year?  Looking for an easy way to support Drummond while checking your list once and twice?

Purchase your gift cards with Drummond Dollars!  Its easy, its great for the school and its right here!  Just take a look at the retailers and download the order form.  Drop off your order form to the Main Office when you drop off your kids at school and your gift cards will be delivered to you at pick up or to your child’s backpack.

This Thursday, parents from Drummond, Suder, Clissold and Oscar Mayer schools are traveling together to Rockford to visit Maria Montessori School (http://webs.rps205.com/schools/montessori/home.html). This inspiring public Montessori elementary school was founded over a decade ago, and has experienced many of the triumphs and obstacles that we’re seeing today. We’ll meet teachers, administrators and parents, tour the school, observe the classes in session, and have ample opportunity to ask questions. We’ll leave on a bus from Drummond at 8AM on Thursday and return by 2:30PM. There are just a few seats left, so if you can join us, RSVP now! Send an email to Sabrina at . This trip is the first step towards building a network of public Montessori school families in Chicago. If you can’t make the trip but would like to help build the public Montessori network, please contact Sabrina or Jennifer James ().

The Drummond Holiday Food Drive was a tremendous success thanks to the generosity of our school community. We raised $650 to help needy Drummond families have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Each family received grocery gift cards so that they can purchase exactly what they need. Most of these cards were purchased through the Drummond Dollars program, meaning that part of the proceeds will come back to the school to help everyone. Many thanks to all — especially the Drummond Dollars women, Cindy Nicita and Lisa Wright!

Hi all,
Just a reminder that we are accepting contributions for the Drummond PTO Food Drive through Friday, Nov. 16th. We are hoping to help 10 needy Drummond families have a happy Thanksgiving — many have contributed but we still need help! Your contribution of cash or grocery gift card can be dropped off in the main office or with Mary Zerkel or Lisa Wright. I plan to collect contributions at the talent show tomorrow as well. All cash donations will be used to purchase grocery cards.

“Lets Peace It Together” T Shirts Are On Sale Now!

These T shirts make great holiday gifts for friends, family and students!  Take a look at a sample shirt right outside the Main Office on Thursday when you come to the Variety Show. Download your order form here or look in your student’s backpack.  Cash and Checks, made out to Drummond PTO, are accepted.  Children sized shirts are $12 and adult’s are $15.  Orders and payment are due by Tuesday, Nov 20th!
