On Thursday, August 16 at 7:00pm at the Drummond School Library, Drummond will be hosting a meeting for Alderman Scott Waguespack, the Public Building Commission of Chicago and the Illinois Department of Transportation to provide information on the Garden Project to the Drummond community. You are welcome to attend!

Our new after-school program starts today at Drummond!!! JCC will be at school starting at 3:00 to meet our kids and initiate the program. It is not too late to sign up! For those who qualify, the State of Illinois provides a subsidy for after-school child care. Please contact Laurie Goldberg at JCC 773/753-3080 for more details. JCC will help you apply for the program and will lower your payment to them until the state confirms your eligibility for the program.
Also, our parents will be organizing the snack for our after-school children. Please watch for more details!
this year’s hideout block party promises to be a fantastic time! performing this year will be andrew bird, bloc party, the frames, mucca pazza, art brut, dan(ce) deacon and many more at the two day music extravaganza, friday, sept. 7th and saturday, sept. 8th. proceeds of the event will benefit drummond school. a great, fun way to help your school. either volunteer at the event, and get free admission to the party the day you volunteer as well as three free beer tickets, or purchase tickets to the event for you and your friends. it’s a family friendly event - children under 10 free with an adult and kid’s corner activities on saturday. sign up to volunteer soon to secure your place – to volunteer, contact pat lee at . for more information, go to www.hideoutchicago.com. thank you!
A parent has volunteered to set up the Uniform Exchange table for an additional day for parents who will be using the afterschool program and can’t make it at regular pick up time.
Look for Melissa Sterne on Thursday, August 16th at 5:00pm in front of the Cortland door as she manages the Uniform Exchange. Please bring any outgrown uniforms you’d like to exchange to the main office before Tuesday, Aug 14 and get ready to find the larger sizes either on Tuesday, Aug 14th 2:00pm or Thursday, Aug 16th at 5:00pm.

Its been an exciting first few days of school at Drummond and as the five year olds are dreaming of starting in the morning, I wanted to let you know a few important items about what’s happening with PTO over the next few days.
If you would like more information about any of the items listed here or would like to volunteer to help with any of these events, please reply here and we’ll get you started in the right direction. Its already looking like its going to be a great year at Drummond and we’re so glad you are a part of it!
The JCC will be at pick-up on Wednesday (8/8) and Thursday (8/9) of this week to take after-school registrations and to answer any questions you may have. Please stop by, sign-up and meet the folks from the JCC. Our after-school program starts Monday, August 13th.
There are eight spaces open in the Drafts For Drummond Beer Tasting Party on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 3 – 6 PM. This sign-up event was featured at the Tango fundraiser and the time is finally here. To participate, RSVP to Kelli at 773-772-1766 and donate $25 per person to Friends of Drummond. Then come out and taste some beer at The Small Bar at 2049 W. Division Street. The sacrifices we make for our children! Space is limited. We need to give a final head count to Small Bar, please RSVP by this Friday if you want in. Can’t wait to see everyone! Welcome back! The Drummond LSC’s first regular meeting of the 07-08 school year is this Wednesday, August 8 at 5pm in the school library. The agenda includes an update on the Principal Selection process, and reports on the Garden Project, school reorganization, new parent orientation, lunch procedures, French class and the Tango fundraiser last Spring. There are also several fundraising proposals to review, and the Council will be electing officers.
As always, everyone is welcome to attend LSC meetings, including kids of all ages. There will be refreshments. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
