LSC Meeting on Wednesday at 5pm

All are invited to attend this month’s meeting of the Drummond LSC, Wednesday 3/14 at 5pm in the Library. The agenda includes a community update from Alderman Matlak, a report on innovative program options from the Office of Academic Enhancement, a report on the Drummond admissions lottery, new ideas from the AfterSchool Committee, and appointment of a new LSC parent representative.

Attention Drummond Parents:

Are you interested in joining the LSC?

The Drummond Local School Council (LSC) is looking for a new Parent Representative. Serving on the LSC is a great opportunity to volunteer for your child’s school, participate in decision-making around school policies and plans, and make a positive impact on our school community. The new Parent Representative will serve from now through the next school year (June 2008).

How to apply:

- Pick up an application in the office.

- Drop off your completed application by Tuesday, March 13.

- Introduce yourself at the LSC Meeting on Wednesday, March 14 and speak for 3-4 minutes about why you would like to serve on the LSC.

No experience necessary! Willingness to attend monthly meetings, complete LSC training, and work with other parents, teachers, administrators and community members to support our outstanding school required!

Drummond’s History Fair is Tuesday April 10, just after we come back from intersession break. 
The school needs more volunteers to judge our student’s History Fair projects. Please contact Ms. Zakas at if you can help out.

The time committment is only 3 hours. Lunch and orientation would start at 11:30, judging at 12 until the end of the fair, usually about 2:00pm.  Please take this opportunity to help our students learn more about the past. Be a history fair judge!

2 French Camps during Spring break

French Academy Inc., located at 2100 N. Hoyne/Charleston Ave., is offering to Drummond students:

“French Drama Classes” and “Les Arts Plastiques”,

from Monday, March 26, until Friday, April 6, 2007.

Tango for Drummond Fundraiser: Join the Efforts

Please join Friends of Drummond for another planning meeting for its upcoming fundraiser, Tango For Drummond, scheduled to take place from 6-10pm on Thursday, May 17 at Rios d’ Sudamerica. The planning meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday, March 12, at Club Lucky (corner of Honore & Wabansia, just down the street from the school). Food and drink will be available for purchase, but no purchase is required. If you haven’t yet figured out how to get involved, this would be a great time to jump in. All the committees will be giving reports on progress to-date, which will give FOD an idea where additional volunteers are needed.
