The ISATs are coming March 12-26! Help your children prepare for the test by getting the practice test for them. Parents can find sample tests for each grade at
http://www.isbe.state.il.us/assessment/htmls/sample_book
If you know of someone who does not have internet access, but would benefit from having an ISAT sample test for their child, please leave a note for Laura Kuzniar in the main office. The note should have the students’ name and grade and PTO will get them a copy of the appropriate ISAT sample test needed.

Calling all kids! Dance to your favorite Chicago musical performers playing folk, country, rock, jazz, classical, marching band, choral and other types of music. Want to get in on the act? Try the instrument petting zoo and the kids’ rhythm circle. Even grown-ups will have a ball! Performers include the Queen of Children’s Music, Ella Jenkins; alt-country and rockabilly supergroup Wee Hairy Beasties featuring Jon Langford, Sally Timms and Kelly Hogan and the musicians of Devil in a Woodpile; world music collective Funkadesi; and many more. Presented as part of Chicago Winter Delights 2007.
We have seen both Ella Jenkins and Wee Hairy Beasties live and they are wonderful! Highly recommended.
FYI, from Jane:
A few people have asked if the Drummond Montessori story will air again since they didn’t catch it on the Friday night news.
You can still watch the first public Montessori School story on WGN-TV’s web site: http://wgntv.trb.com/
From the front page, go to ‘latest news video’. The text for the story is also under ‘Chicago’s Very Own’. There’s a good chance the story will air again this Mon. or Tues. on the WGN (CH.9) noon show.
Lots of great materials have arrived and are lining the wall on the left side of Mark’s office. Here is a list of what’s available, broken down by rooms. If you are staffing one of those rooms, feel free to take one booklet home to plan from or make xtra copies of. We were even able to get 4 of the booklets in both English and Spanish.
If weather room wants to incorporate “air” and take bird materials that’s fine, too, just LMK. Otherwise we’ll include local birds in camping.
We have enough Smoky Bear comics and bookmarks for everyone. (3 types–Smokey, Woodsy and one in Spanish) Posters will go on the walls then be donated to classrooms after reading night (we have 2 of each). I have great news. I’ve contacted a number of the agencies we discussed and 2 are already sending camping/ nature related freebies directly to Drummond (possibly care of Bonnie Kenaz-Mara).
I’ll copy The Forest Service e-mail here and the list enroute from The Department of Natural Resources. Please let me know if there’s someone in the office I should notify to be on the look out for these materials and flag me down when they arrive.
Thanks,
B

The No Child Left Behind Parent Committee invites all Drummond
Families to the Winter Family trip to the Art Institute of Chicago for
an afternoon at the museum. The Family Programs staff is hosting us for
a family visit in the galleries followed by a project in the art studio
that will be taken home. After the walk and art project we will have
time to explore the museum on our own. We will meet at 1:30 to depart
on the bus. Family Program staff will meet us at 2:15 at the Columbus
drive entrance to begin our visit. After our walk and art work we will
have about an hour to explore before meeting in the Columbus Drive
Foyer to depart on the bus at 4:45 returning to Drummond by 5:15.
Please join us for this fun afternoon! Families not wishing to take
the bus are welcome to meet us at the Columbus Drive entrance to the
Art Institute at 2:15 to join our group. This should be a great time
for all ages. The Family Program staff has planned a terrific afternoon
for Drummond Families and everyone is invited!
P.S. Please rsvp in the office so we can get an idea of who is joining
us!
The following information was sent to me by a Drummond parent. Once we get the message board up and running, that will be the place where this sort of information will go, but I just thought I’d post it here in case any of you are in urgent need of these services.
