Amazon & Wishlist Reminders

Filed under: General and Misc — Angelo at 4:56 pm on Monday, December 18, 2006

Hi,

A couple of timely notes regarding the Wishlist project and Amazon referrals. There have been many purchases through the Amazon link on the Drummond PTO/LSC website; however, there have been very few purchases of items from the Drummond School Wishlist. Please consider purchasing items for our children’s classrooms from the list posted on the website.

Also, if you are making general purchases from Amazon these days, please don’r forget to go through the banner at the Drummond LSC/PTO site to allow Drummond to receive a percentage of the purchase (we’re at 6% now, just a few purchases from the 6.5% level). Please note:

  • Today is the last day to use Amazon’s standard shipping and get the items before Christmas
  • Newsflash — Now gift certificates purchased through this link, only through Dec. 31, are eligible for the rebate.

If you’re not sure what to purchase for the school, I’m sure an Amazon gift certificate will come in handy!

Art classes added for Drummond students at Ukranian Village Children’s Center

Filed under: General and Misc — zbluesun at 10:14 am on Sunday, December 10, 2006

Are you looking for something to do over Winter Intercession?   Sarah has a wonderful space at 918 N. Damen and has added extra classes during our down time especially for Drummond students and their friends.

http://childrenscenter.info/

dec 19  – pomander balls, with oranges and cloves

dec 20 – gift wrap

jan 3 – bird treats

jan 4 – painted wooden shapes
each class will be from 12-2 pm and people should sign up in advance.
phone is 773-342-7415
$13/class

Many Drummond families have been enjoying Sarah’s art classes for years.   Ukranian Village Children’s Center is full of wooden toys and is a fun place to come in out of the cold and play.   Crafts are unusual and play time is reasonably priced.  UVCC donated free classes to our Cinco De Mayo Fundraiser last year, and Sarah is happy to continue to add extra classes for our students over intercessions, if people make use of this opportunity.  So spread the word.

Hideout Christmas Pyrate Panto

Filed under: General and Misc — laura at 12:12 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2006

Thursday, Friday, Saturday December 21, 22, 23 at 7:00 & 10:00

The Hideout Players present The First Annual Hideout Christmas Pyrate Panto* in which are revealed the adventures of Catfish Girl amongst pyrates and mermaids featuring Jon Langford, Kelly Hogan, Janet Bean, Tim Tuten and a glittering host of Hideout Regulars directed by Sally Timms

Two shows nightly
7pm show all ages and family friendly
10pm show over 21 only and less friendly
$12 adults, $5 under 16′s
Pirate dress encouraged

In keeping with British Christmas tradition, the Hideout will present its first pantomime* (see definition below) telling the story of Catfish Girl, her adventures on the High Seas with villanous pirates and her search for the lost mermaid treasure of Pirate Island. Expect plenty of cross dressing, bad pirate jokes, ribald humor, sea shanties and salty tails.

In the role he was born to play, Jon Langford stars as Mrs. Hammerhead, pantomime dame and proprietress of the Mariner’s Leg Tavern and Grill, Kelly Hogan stars as Cap’n Skate King of the Pirates, Janet Bean as the Mermaid Queen and Tim Tuten appears as Tuttons, the chatty fishmonger.  Newcomer Callie Roach will play the role of Catfish Girl.  Introducing for the first (and probably last) time a glittering galaxy of Hideout regulars masquerading as pirates, mermaids and pantomime whales. Directed by Sally Timms, who is busy stitching the costumes with her own teeth.

Seating is strictly limited to 60 people per show.  Floor seating so bring your own cushions. Advance ticket purchase highly recommended.

Thank you, ye be warned.

* a pantomime is a traditional British Christmas play. Originally silent productions, the pantomimes are a mix of fairy stories, folk tales and much loved cartoons, which encourage audience participation. The audience becomes very involved in the performance, with lots of hissing and booing of the villain and cheering for the hero. Some pantomimes include a song for the audience to join in with, and others invite children up on stage to chat to one of the performers.  In pantomimes the male roles are often played by women and female roles by men
