Filed under: General and Misc — Angelo at 9:59 am on Monday, November 13, 2006

During the week of Nov. 13-17, please have your child bring nutritious, nonperishable canned and packaged food items or grocery store gift cards to share with families in need within our community.

Look for PTO representatives at drop-off or have your child bring items to donate to the classroom where they will be collected by the Student Council.

Thanks for sharing.

Announcing the PTO/FOD Wish List Project.

Filed under: General and Misc — Monica at 7:50 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2006

This fall Drummond PTO and Friends of Drummond (FOD) have joined forces to launch The Wish List: a community-wide effort to collect donations of various equipment and supplies desired by Drummond faculty but currently beyond their budgets.  We are seeking everything from sponges to microwaves, cameras to couches. Wicker baskets gathering dust in your basement? Time for an early spring cleaning? Now’s your chance to put your gently used cast-offs to good use in Drummond’s classrooms. Any donation, large or small, used or new, would be warmly welcomed by our teachers, as are cash or gift card donations.

For those of you who are eager to help out but short on time, this is a great, easy way to pitch in!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to volunteer to assist with The Wish List.

Thanks in advance for your support,

Monica Lasky,

Wish List Committee Chair; President, FOD

ChiIL fun with Ella Jenkins this Sat, Nov. 4 at 11am and Dia de los Muertos

Filed under: General and Misc — zbluesun at 10:38 am on Friday, November 3, 2006

Ella Jenkins is performing a benefit for low income kids enrolled in North Avenue Day Nursery.  It’s great music, a good cause and in the neighborhood.  Tickets are $15.  Performance is at The Wicker Park Lutheran Church 1502 N. Hoyne (at LeMoyne)

The Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum has a fantastic Dia de los Muertos exhibit including sugar skull demos, tours & marionettes this Sat.  Also, at the museum, from 1-2:30, poetry on the theme of “Getting to Peace” will be performed as part of the Children’s Humanities Festival.  Barrel of Monkeys is staging this poetic work, written by words @ play youth.
