LSC May 25 Special Meeting Agenda (MS Word) 

Hello Everyone-
Here are our planned NCLB Parent/Student Family Field trips for the next three weeks.  All three trips are free.  Students need to come with a parent or other grown-up but any family member is invited.

May 27-Porchlight Theater’s The Secret Garden
A live production of the classic children’s story of an orphaned girl and the secret garden she finds.  Live stage show with music and dancing.  Meet at school at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:10 sharp departure for the theatre.  Curtain is at 3pm. The show is about 2 1/2 hours long.  Return to Drummond about 6 p.m.

June 3- The Mexican Fine Arts Museum
A day at the Mexican Fine Arts museum in Pilsen.  Enjoy a guided family tour of the Mexican Fine Arts Museum’s permanent collection.  Afterwards families will have plenty of time explore the rest of the Museum.  All tours will be completely bilingual.  Buses will leave school at 10:15a.m.  Please meet at Drummond School at 10 a.m.

June 10-A Day at the Morton Arboretum
Spend a Day under the trees at the Morton Arboretum.  There will be small guided nature walks and plenty of time to visit the enormous children’s garden play area and maze.  Meet at Drumond at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. departure on the bus.

A special LSC meeting has been called to address the issue of fundraising by outside groups for Drummond School.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 5:00pm in Room 103 of Drummond School.  Agenda is attached.  A Spanish Agenda will be uploaded soon.

This topic has been the cause of much discussion in and around Drummond.

All school community members are highly encouraged to attend.  Please come by and express your views!

Alderman Matlak shared some wonderful news at the LSC meeting on May 9th.  $500,000 has been pledged from the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District for the Drummond Green Space project. 

In summer 2006, an architect will begin transforming the concept plans designed by Greg Raymond into construction plans.  The plans will be implemented beginning in 2007, transforming many feet of asphalt into green space for our kids.

On Tuesday May 23, 2006, the City Central Magnet Cluster Schools (Burr, Mitchell, Lozano, Talcott, Chopin, Lafayette, Roque De Duprey and Drummond) will showcase their schools at a school fair to be held at Clemente High School from 4-7pm.  Performances from Drummond Students and information on possible enrollment for next year will be presented.  Current parents and community members are welcome.  Drummond LSC members are highly encouraged to attend.
