Giant hula hoop making workshop this Sunday 10-noon
As some of you are aware, Kate has been leading an informal hoop gathering, with tunes, after school on Fridays, for kids and parents. There’s a core group very interested in DIY hoops.
Kate has graciously offered her Bucktown home for a workshop this Sunday, 9/27 from 10-noon, and my friend, Rebecca who is an experienced hoop maker, will come teach us how to make adult and kids hoops. We have space for 8 more people. Please e-mail Kate at and Bonnie at to RSVP. Kate will confirm and give you her address.
DETAILS:
Workshop cost: $30–includes 2 hour instruction and all materials (including lots of color choices on tapes) to make a high quality adult sized giant hula hoop. Option available to make additional hoops at $20 per adult hoop/ $15 child sized. Please specify number and child/adult when you sign up, so we can estimate materials.
The initial workshop is for adults only, with the thought that we can pass on this knowledge to more families, and maybe have kids do the decorating of pre assembled hoops at a later date. If you can’t make other arrangements, you can bring kids with you.
Hooping is great exercize and lots of fun. These durable hoops will last. Come join us and see what all the hoop-la is all about. Friday Hoop Day will be a regular event directly after school. We’ll meet in the green space, on the playground side, as long as weather permits. We’re planning to move it in to the gym on rain days and throughout winter, if possible.
Hope to see you Sunday. Come hoop it up with us. RSVP soon as space is limited!
