Lost Sandwich bag of Pokemon Cards–Please Return If Found

Filed under: General and Misc — zbluesun at 3:39 pm on Monday, September 21, 2009

Sage, in room 207, had a sandwich bag with approx 10 Pokemon cards, which disappeared from under her lunch box on the playground after school on 9/21.   It included cards Donphan, Kadabra and Spearow, among others.  If anyone found it, (or if your child shows up with these cards) please return them to us, no questions asked.   Thank you!

We intentionally didn’t bring Pokemon cards for an entire year, because Dugan’s most powerful card was stolen from a sleeve of his binder last year, when he left it with a friend, to get a drink of water.   Another EL1 boy showed up with the same rare, valuable card the next morning, and when confronted, claimed some other friend gave it to him outside of school.  Dugan (room 200) never got his Level X Mesprit back.   We’d accept that one, no questions asked, too.
Maybe it was an honest mistake that $5.00 of Sage’s cards have now gone missing, but if kids can not be trusted not to steal from others and take advantage of smaller children with unfair trades, I strongly feel Pokemon cards should be banned from the playground entirely–before and after school as well as during the school day.

We love Poke cards as much as anyone, but it saddens me that these are bringing out the worst in our children.    I’m sure my two kids are not the only ones to have Pokemon cards stolen from them.    If Drummond does make the call to ban Pokemon cards before/after school, I think it should be explained to the kids that it’s a concequence of a few people who can’t be trusted not to steal and take advantage of others.
Thanks,

Bonnie Kenaz-Mara
